Delayed Dismissal (30/30) Procedures

Weather Delayed Dismissal Procedure

In the event of thunderstorms with lightning, students will not be dismissed when lightning is indicated within a six-mile radius of the school until 30 minutes have passed from the last strike within the radius.

  • Busses won't be loaded.
  • Car riders, bikers, and walkers will not be released.
  • An adult may come in to check out a child. However, the adult must be on the student's Emergency Data Card and have a valid ID/car tag.
  • Buses will be loaded and students released when the weather has cleared.

Parents are notified of delayed dismissal via the Skylert automated phone system.

During the delayed dismissal (30/30), parents may pick up their children. However, it is not required to pick them up. To expedite the pick up process, we will create a parent-student pick-up center in our cafeteria.

Parents who want to pick up students must enter the school through the cafeteria lobby door. This door is located on the side of campus by the car loop. Please ensure you are in a parking spot and not parked in the car loop, as this will block in other parents and disrupt the carpool line when the weather has cleared.

Parents must present a car tag or valid ID to check out a student during the weather delay. After the staff confirms the parent is on the emergency contact list, the student will be called from the classroom to come to the cafeteria.

Please know that this process may take several minutes due to the volume of students being picked up.

As soon as the we are cleared, we will immediately resume normal dismissal procedures and will no longer be checking students out via the cafeteria, regardless of any existing check out line.

Make sure your phone number and email address is updated so you receive important Skylerts regarding delayed dismissals.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these uncommon events.
